Our Autumn Apartment

Like most decor-loving bloggers out there, I've hauled out my fall decorations to dress up our apartment. I thought I'd share our autumn apartment here.

This is the first year I've had our three-shelf table to decorate, and I really enjoyed having another spot to create a vignette.

Usually our travel prints hang above the table, but I removed them and tied some swallow-tail bunting in fall colors to dress up the wall. I also flipped my three-pane yellow window to the back, which is white with a bit of orange and green. I just taped some autumnal subway art on the middle pane.

Most of the items on this table are from Target, Pier1, or thrift stores. I made the candy corn myself like these ones by Thrifty Decor Chick.

For the coffee table, I just added a tray with some clustered candles and wheat stalks, and topped off our stack of books with a pumpkin filled with fall M&Ms.

The bottom shelves of our TV stand house baskets, boxes, and cases stocked with our DVDs, so I really only decorated the top.

To the left side I added some orange and reddish ginko leaves (from Target) to a jar, then clustered that with my white lantern + fall striped candle, a faux wood frame with autumnal subway art, and a little raffia-esque pumpkin.

To the right I grouped some mini maize in a hurricane from Pier 1 and popped in a pair of brown pheasants.

I always love to decorate our entry bookshelf for each season. I decided to place most of my strictly Halloween decor here, and I'll change it up come November 1--I already bought a few miniature gourds that need a home :)

The art comes from around the blogosphere--Eat, Drink and Be Scary and Keep Calm and Scary On from Craftily Ever After, and the Chevron subway art from Eighteen25. I can't remember where I got the gray subway art from, but I'll keep searching!

On top, I placed some Halloween-y twigs from Target, a stack of spookily-titled books, a vintage cookie cutter box lid, assorted jars with spooky Martha Stewart labels, and a few other accessories I already owned. The vintage cookie cutters are from an antique market I went to a few weeks back--I'll share what else I bought in a bit!

The bottom of the shelf features more labeled bottles, a chevron print from Sprik Space, a Beware sign from Target's dollar spot, a cheese dome filled with moss and little skulls, and the bottom of my vintage cookie cutter box. You can see a few of the cutters scattered around the bookcase as well.

Over on the matching bookcase in our dining room, I added a few more labeled bottles, along with a spooky-looking pitcher from Goodwill and a Mystic Ouija-type board, another antique market pick.

This year I also decided to set my table for fall. Usually it just sits there blank, and I really like how my tablescape looks! I just pulled out my fall-hued Fiestaware, layering plates with the bowls, and popped a fall-ish decoration in each bowl. I also used my leafy napkins from the Crate & Barrel outlet.

To top it all off, I plopped down this easy centerpiece: some kraft paper layered with a vellum lace-patterned scrapbook paper (leftover from my wedding centerpieces!). On top of that I filled three mason jars with fall bits--acorns, wood coins, and mini pumpkins--with candles nestled inside. I don't light the candles due to fire concerns, but I love the look of these lanterns!

So that's it! Our fall decor. The husband and I just love this season--the colors, the food, the scent of apple cider and pumpkin--so we get big grins on our faces when we see the decorations!

You can also take a walk down memory lane and see our past decorations from 2010 and 2011--although I think I've gotten much better at this since then :)

  1. WOW, are you secretly an interior decorator or something? I LOVE so many things about your decoration: the bunting especially! It's so beautiful!

  2. Too cute! I think the orange bouquet is actually eucalyptus branches. Definitely not ginko (look up the ginko leaves, they are distinctive). I've got green eucalyptus branches in the arrangement on my front stoop...
